What is Cardiohelp?
Cardiohelp is a minimized machine for extracorporeal circulation and respiration when heart and lung failure occurs. A cannula is inserted into the patient’s vein, through which blood is pumped externally to the ECMO system where the oxygenator is located.
Carbon dioxide is eliminated and the blood is oxygenated with a mixture of oxygen and air, then pumped back into the patient through a cannula in the artery.
Cardiohelp is a mobile device, connected patients generally require a stay in the intensive care unit. But they can also be transported between clinics with an intensive care regime.
